Vamizi Island Lodge and its endless sea

Vamizi Island lodge is built on the northern side of the island and looks towards Rongui from the end of a long powder-sand beach. The lodge comprises ten separate beach houses, each with its own large living room, spectacular bathroom and breezy veranda. The houses look out to sea from the shade of the forest that forms the centre of the island. The décor of the Vamizi lodge incorporates as much of the traditional design of the region as possible. The bathrooms have a solid slab of marble forming the wall of the shower, and hand-carved screens which provide the privacy and aesthetic detail of a Zanzibar palace. The bedrooms have king-size beds – four-posters – with free-standing frames draped in beautiful natural muslin mosquito nets. The outside decks and private beaches have a selection of loungers, swinging beds and local ‘Swahili day beds’ to chose from, to encourage guests to relax wherever they wish.

Marlin Lodge

Situated on the largest island in the Bazaruto Archipelago, Marlin Lodge is much more than just a seaside resort with great possibilities for fishing. The lodge is a natural haven, teeming in wildlife and offers visitors a whole range of outdoor activities. The lodge is constructed using local wood and is elevated above the ground on wooden stilts. The accommodation is built ostensibly of wood with traditional thatched roofing. Wooden pathways connect the 20 chalets to the main lodge so as to interfere as little as possible with the natural environment. The chalets are all individually built and no two are completely alike. All the interiors combine luxury with ethnically styled furnishings and decoration.
Warm earth colours predominate (beige, maroon, orange) with touches of cobalt blue on the cushions and dining sets. All the chalets have a private patio with direct access to the beach which represents more often than not the centre of activity on the island. During the day guests can picnic in one of the islands more remote spots or go out and “explore” some of the neighbouring islands using the lodges private yacht. In the evenings, the beach is transformed into a romantic torch-lit restaurant serving a delicious mixture of
local African and Portuguese dishes. For those passionate about scuba diving, Marlin Lodge boasts its own private diving centre and offers its guests a whole host of different sites to dive in. The aquatic life here is particularly abundant, ranging from innumerable types of coral and tropical fish to dolphins, sharks and even dugongs, the legendary marine mammals.

Benguerra Lodge, one of the greatest barefoot luxury resort on Benguerra Island

At Benguerra Lodge, located on the island of Benguerra in Mozambique (an area declared by the World Wildlife Foundation, in 1971, to be a National Park)  everything has been designed with greatest of care and attention to detail so that absolutely nothing in the lodge should detract from the natural beauty of the vegetation that surrounds it.

There are no doors nor window panes in Benguerra Lodge, only the thatched roofs prevail against the sun and the wind.
Benguerra Lodge offers guests a total immersion into the untamed African wilderness while providing a refined and luxurious service.
